Your money, in your own currency.
Ellie is a personal finance app for iPhone, iPad and Mac: budgets you actually keep, receipts read on the device for free, reimbursements with real documents, and reports that explain where the month went. It speaks English and Vietnamese, and works in whatever currencies you use.
Email supportOn first launch Ellie asks where you are and in what language, then walks you through your accounts, your monthly budgets, and anything that repeats — salary, rent, subscriptions. You can re-run this any time from More → Review setup.
Tap Scan Receipt on the Home screen and take a photo, or pick one from your library. Ellie reads it on your device — free, offline, and the photo never leaves your phone. Check what it read, correct anything it got wrong, and save. Ellie remembers your corrections, so the same shop is recognised next time.
Yes. Everything — including receipt scanning — works offline. A connection is only used to refresh exchange rates once a day, and for the optional features below.
Yes. There is no Ellie account and no Ellie server. Your records stay on your device and sync only to your own private iCloud storage, which the developer cannot see. Full detail is in the privacy policy.
No — it is entirely optional and unlocks nothing. Receipt scanning is free and runs on your device. If a receipt is unusually hard to read, and you happen to have your own Anthropic API key, you can tap “Re-read with Claude” for a second opinion, billed to your own account. Most people never add one.
If iCloud is on, install Ellie on the new device and your data arrives. Otherwise use More → Back up to save one file, then Restore from backup on the new device. The backup includes your receipt images and PDFs.
Deleting the app removes its data from the device. To also clear the iCloud copy, go to iOS Settings → your name → iCloud → Manage Account Storage. Individual transactions, documents and keys can be deleted inside the app at any time.
The free, private receipt reader uses Apple's on-device intelligence and the newest text recognition, which are only available from iOS 26 onward.
No. The Tax Pack produces estimates for a conversation with your accountant. Ellie is not a tax adviser. Verify every number before filing or paying anything.
Write with what you were doing and what you expected instead — screenshots help. Bug reports and feature requests both land in the same inbox and both get read.
